Three contrasting facets of the Netherlands in a single trip: a magnificent castle, the political capital, and a city of skyscrapers. On this route, you will see De Haar, the stately Hague, and futuristic Rotterdam without the hassle of transfers. As your guide in the Netherlands, I, Tatiana, will pick you up from your hotel for this Amsterdam private tour in a comfortable car. We will spend the day at a pace that suits you, focusing on the details that interest you most.

De Haar Castle: Gothic Architecture and Rothschild Luxury

De Haar Castle is not a grim medieval ruin, but a refined residence. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the Rothschild bankers invested a fortune to turn the old fortress into a masterpiece where historical architecture was combined with cutting-edge comfort for its time.

You will see the owners’ private hair salon and exclusive tableware created specifically for the estate. It was in these halls that lavish balls were held for Queen Wilhelmina and Hollywood stars. As we walk through the park and its rose garden, I will share the romances and life dramas of this incredibly wealthy family.

The Hague and Rotterdam: From Royal Courts to Cube Houses

Both cities play a key role in the life of the country, yet they differ dramatically in architecture and atmosphere.

  • Palaces and justice in The Hague: I will guide you through the courtyards of the Binnenhof complex, show you the Peace Palace, and the working residence of the King, Noordeinde Palace. You will find out why the government historically settled here rather than in the official capital.

  • Reborn Rotterdam: During World War II, the city center was destroyed. Only the St. Lawrence Church miraculously survived—we will explore this monument to resilience. Given a blank slate, architects rebuilt the city from scratch. You will see the famous Cube Houses, the Pencil House, and bold projects that shatter stereotypes of classic Dutch buildings.

What to expect

The itinerary takes 8 hours (from 10:00 to 18:00) and costs 750 euros. This is a private tour, and the price is fixed for your entire group (the car comfortably accommodates up to 6 passengers).

  • Transport and logistics: I will pick you up from your hotel in Amsterdam. Between cities, we travel in a comfortable car equipped with Wi-Fi, drinking water, and child seats upon request. We will explore the castle grounds, The Hague, and Rotterdam on foot. After the program concludes, we return to Amsterdam.

  • Customizable itinerary: I tailor the day entirely to your preferences. If you prefer classic Dutch charm with canals and historic facades, we can easily swap futuristic Rotterdam for the cozy streets of Leiden or Delft.

  • Rest breaks: Along the way, we will definitely take a coffee break, try the famous Dutch herring, or stop for a full lunch. I will recommend trusted local spots based on your tastes (food and drinks are paid separately).
