Stepping into Bruges feels like traveling back to the 16th century. This is classic Flanders, featuring historic squares, winding canals, and recognizable filming locations from In Bruges. We will explore both the city’s iconic landmarks and its quiet, hidden streets. As this is a Bruges private tour, the experience is exclusively for you and your group. We will tailor the route to your specific interests and pace.
I will explain how the city maintained its medieval architecture and earned its UNESCO World Heritage status. During our walk, you will see:
Lake Minnewater, with its swans and the Bonifacius Bridge.
Burg Square, lined with architecture from the city’s wealthiest guilds.
The Belfry Tower — the very one the film’s main character jumps from.
The Basilica of the Holy Blood, home to the city’s most sacred relic.
The Church of Our Lady, home to Michelangelo’s only sculpture in Belgium, the “Madonna and Child,” along with works by the Van Eyck brothers.
Belgian brewing culture is a UNESCO heritage recognized in its own right. Standing by the historic De Halve Maan brewery, we will discuss how monks and merchants shaped the region’s culinary traditions and explore the differences between local beer styles. I will point out tried-and-true spots for authentic Belgian fries and high-quality chocolate, ensuring you know exactly where to go after our walk.
You can choose between two formats for this experience:
Day trip from Amsterdam: 750 euros. This covers round-trip transportation from Amsterdam or other Dutch cities (roughly 3 hours each way), the walking tour, and full-day accompaniment from 8:00 to 20:00. Transfer rates from other regions are calculated upon request.
Bruges walking tour: 230 euros. A 2-hour walking tour designed for those already staying in the city who want to explore with a local expert.
What to do after the tour
After our main itinerary, you can continue your day on the water, climb historic towers, or sample local specialties. I will provide all the recommendations you need for independent exploration. Here are a few ways to spend your afternoon:
- Admire the gingerbread-style facades from the water on a canal boat cruise.
- Visit the historic De Halve Maan brewery to taste local beer and enjoy panoramic rooftop views.
- Take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the ancient cobblestone streets.
- Step inside historic churches or climb the Belfry tower.
- Enjoy a Bruges chocolate tasting, visit the Frietmuseum, or browse the local weekend street market.
⚠️ Additional expenses: Entrance tickets for museums and the brewery, boat and carriage rides, as well as food and beverages are not included in the base price and must be covered separately.
If you are planning a comprehensive Belgian itinerary, you can easily combine this day with a visit to neighboring cities:
